Apple MacBook Pro MC373LL/A 15-inch 2.66GHz Core i7 Laptop

I've had this computer for three weeks now, waiting to write a review until I had fully experienced it. The first came with a bad keyboard, sent back to Apple for replacement. They returned the MacBook Pro a little from the daily freezes at which point the mouse and keyboard were locked out, but the process continues and after about 5 minutes, control was restored. This proved to be a very common problem, which is fully documented on Apple's website. Fortunately, Apple released an update to Leopard (10.6.4), who solved the problem for most of us.

This computer is incredibly fast, especially if you have fully loaded with memory (8 GB) and an ordered solid state. But even without the SSD and the standard deviation of memory (4 GB), it is the fastest MacBook ever done with almost 30%. I love it.

I recommend users of this computer with 8 GB of memory, if at all possible. The extra memory makes a big difference in performance, and are not very expensive. In addition, this computer with two options for screen resolution. I got the high resolution display with anti-reflection, and it is a pleasure to work with. Now when I go back to my old MacBook Pro with standard resolution, I notice and are bothered by the difference.

Other studies have listed some advantages of this computer, except for speed. So let me mention some of the topics:

The first graphics-intensive applications generate much heat. When the graphic is changed to faster chips (this happens automatically if you choose to always use the faster chips in the energy settings), the computer becomes warm. Not so hot that you can not use it on your lap, but approaching that level.

2nd Rain Power, which also generates much heat. Run a program that simultaneously activate more cores and faster graphics chip is the perfect storm, and this computer gets really hot on the bottom. Now you can not comfortably work with it on his lap. If this is a typical situation, get a cooling pad. I use Logitech N100 and it completely solves the problem, at no additional cost and battery consumption (it uses the USB port). But I often run calculations in the background, and if there is a Cooling Pad crucial. I expect there will also be important if you use this computer for gaming.

3rd Battery life is very dependent on usage. The high speed graphics options are great if you're running on battery, it is a serious drain. Unfortunately, software engineers are not an option to always use the slower graphics chip in the battery. This is an important option that should be implemented in a future version, even if it means some programs will not run properly. The battery problem is an error that prevents this computer from being a great travel computer. You can not replace the battery and if you travel, and the battery gets low, you simply have to close up shop or find an outlet. These are very difficult to find, and the airlines often do not give companies the seats or in their waiting rooms at airports.

Despite the above issues that forced me to give this machine 4 stars, I love it. It's the best laptop I've ever used, although I will take another MacBook Pro when I travel because of battery issues. The speed of this machine is comparable to a 3 GHz desktop Nehalem Mac Pro. The i7 chip is actually a powerful processor and all your applications can run about 30% faster than previous Macs.
